São Paulo, Brazil:  The Champions’ Parade  – “Unidos de VIla Maria,” the third place “Escola de Samba” (Trans. “Samba school”) from São Paulo parades in the early hours of the Morning on Feb 9, 2008 at 3:00 AM, for the final farewell to the publc as tradition calls it on this Saturday. Over 3,000 dancers tell their show titled: “100 Years of the Japanese Immigration.”
The city of São Paulo–one of the largest cities in the world– watches this morning their Samba school bid farewell for the very last time until they meet again, next Year, 2009. Continue reading »

Nenê vence o carnaval pelo segundo ano consecutivo Campeãs

1º lugar: Nenê de Vila Matilde,  com o enredo Com Recife antigo no coração

O Grêmio Recreativo Cultural Escola de Samba Nenê de Vila Matilde é uma das mais tradicionais escolas de samba da cidade de São Paulo. Foi fundada em 1949 por Seu Nenê, que foi presidente da escola por 47 anos, até passar o comando da entidade em 1996 para seu filho, Alberto Alves da Silva Filho, em razão de alguns problemas de saúde.
